Improper Political Activities (Hatch Act)
The Hatch Act limits certain political activities of GAO employees. Its purpose is to ensure that federal programs are administered in a nonpartisan manner and to protect employees from political coercions in the workplace. The PAB/OGC is charged with investigating violations of the Hatch Act at GAO. 5 U.S.C. § 7321, et. seq. and 31 U.S.C. § 732(b)(3). The PAB/OGC should be contacted to report suspected prohibited political activities at GAO or to obtain informal advice regarding the Hatch Act at GAO.
